Angel was composed halfway through the writing of “Too”, my second studio album. By that point I had a really clear sense of the shape that the album was going to take so when Chris, our drummer, sent me through the idea for “Angel”, I loved it but I wasn’t quite sure how it would fit in with the rest of of the album. However I really connected to the piece and finished the writing in about an hour.

The song is about an obsessive infatuation with a stranger “Can you hear me creeping softly, words unspoken break me gently…”. At the time I had just met this quite intriguing guy, but I was going through a low moment due to some work related stress and for some reason I thought this man was too good for me...looking back, how could I have ever got to that conclusion?!?

Anyway, after completing the writing for “Too” and finalising what tunes would be included in the album, I realised that “Angel” was actually more of a stand alone track. Although the song was part of the process of “Too”, it didn’t really belong belong on the album as such. I felt that it was more a prescience, sort of like a musical interlude, or introduction, of what was to come as a band. That made me  excited and keen to keep it as a bonus track for our fans so that they could really feel part of this creative journey with us.
